Summer Writing Retreats

The academic year might be coming to an end, but SASiety is here for you all summer long! We’re continuing our Writing Retreats for everyone who’d like to have some company and accountability while working on a project. We’ll be running two virtual study sessions and one in-person session at Stewart House, and we hope to see you join us for a session or two over the summer.

Find the writing retreat dates below. Follow the links to join the sessions!

Our first session is an online retreat this coming Tuesday (6th July 2021) which will start at 11.30am and run for two 1hr30 writing sessions with a 30min break in between.

If you’d like to join this session, please email our Social Events Secretary Islay for the link!

The in-person study session at Stewart House will be taking place on Monday 19th July 2021. The session will start at 11am and go till 2pm, though you are welcome to drop in and out at any point during that time. We will have 2 structured 1hr30 silent study sessions with a 30-minute break in between. Tea, coffee, and snacks will be provided!

If you’d like to join this in-person session, please email our Social Events Secretary Islay to be added to the attendance list.

Our final session for the month will be a short online retreat on Friday 30th July. This session will start at 1.30pm with one 1hr30 writing session and some time to chat before and after.

If you’d like to join this session, please email our Social Events Secretary Islay for the link!

As usual, the writing retreats are open to all and pretty informal. The study room is a quiet space during the allocated writing time(s), but we will be having chats before and after each session as well as 30 min breaks in-between. Islay will be keeping an eye on the time.

By the way, there’s no rule saying you have to work on your thesis. Some of us transcribe files during the sessions, others work on side projects, or conference abstracts. What you work on is up to you, we just thought you might like some company.
