Whether you want to know how to apply for academic funding or how to conduct fieldwork in and with indigenous communities, the new term of Research Training at SAS is full of interesting webinars.
SAS expects us research students to complete a total of 30 days of research training over the course of a doctoral programme. This training can take the form of attending research sessions, personal development training, discipline-specific training, language and IT skills, but can also include delivering papers at seminars, organising events and attending conferences. It is therefore important to keep track of attendences and completed sessions.
Here’s a list of what’s going on this term, so have a look whether any of these sessions would help you with your studies. Attendance is free.

What if I can't attend?

Life happens and there are bound to be clashes between research training sessions and personal or professional committments every now and then. But fear not! SAS records many of its training sessions and makes them available on the website. The same goes for a great number of events and seminars across the institutes, so it’s always worth a look to see what’s going on elsewhere in SAS.
If it’s not a pre-recorded session and you fear you’ll miss out, you can also approach the event manager and ask whether you could get a recording of the sessions. The worst case scenario is a “no”, but often you’ll find it’s a “yes” and you’ll either get a recording or the link to the website once it’s been uploaded there.
Make sure you check your own institute’s events, as well as the SAS Events Page, just in case we’ve missed anything.
[…] There are, of course, more events taking place within SAS, so we highly advise you to visit SAS’ Events Page to get more of an idea of the extensive events that are available. Remember there are also Research Training events taking place. Read more about it here. […]
